Programs

PTA programs are created to organize and support parent involvement in children’s education. Our programs are created with leading expert organizations on topics of importance to our members, at members’ requests.

PTA offers a means to develop strong family-school partnerships and involve the community. The process can be tailored to each school. PTA’s process for building successful partnerships and programs consists of three steps:

* Raising awareness about the power of family and community involvement.
* Taking action to cultivate involvement through specific programs and practices.
* Celebrating success as your school sees increased involvement and its impact

    * Photography

    * Visual Arts

    * Dance Choreography

    * Film/Video Production

Honorary Service Awards

PTSA honors those who give of themselves in service to children, and there are many wonderful examples of this giving spirit in our community. For each recipient of the Honorary Service Award, a donation is made in his or her name by PTSA to a scholarship fund.  These scholarships are awarded to eligible students and teachers throughout the state of California.

Hospitality

If you felt welcomed on campus on your first visit, it is probably due in part to our wonderful Hospitality volunteers.  PTSA Hospitality provides refreshments for back-to-school nights and staff appreciation brunches.  They also provide a reception following the Award’s Night for our graduating seniors and their families.  If you are a Martha Stewart wanna-be, or just like to welcome people by feeding them, the Hospitality Committee would love to hear from you!

School, Staff and Student Activity Support

Throughout the school year, the PTSA works closely with the administration.  As needs arise, PTSA considers how its resources can best serve the school.  Examples of how PTSA provides support to Kennedy High School have included:

     financial donations to the library;

     volunteer support;

     financial support for special club events;

     financial and volunteer support for school safety campaigns:

     financial and food donations for our students at School Dances

     Staff Appreciation Luncheons
