THE IMPORTANCE OF USING PROPER ENGLISH :)
Here are some of our favorite commercials that were produced by the senior high English classes. You can follow the links below to YouTube to watch them. Enjoy!
1. The following is "Jesse's Girl." Watch what happens when you send your girlfriend a Valentine message with spelling errors.
2. This commercial is hilarious. Kristen posted a disclaimer that Blake was not harmed in the making of this commercial.
3. You might end up living alone with a cat if you use bad grammar! Watch and learn!
4. See what started it all. We love these commercial for DirectTV so much that we decided to make our own. The following are the insprirations for our commercial projects.
February 8: SPANN FEVER! It was so great that James Spann from ABC 33/40 spent some time with us today. He gave an informative presentation and is so passionate about his work and keeping Alabamians safe in extreme weather. I want to give a special shout out to all my students who are "Spann Fans." You were all so attentive and respectful. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you being my sweet big kids. Nobody loves you like Mrs. K does!
January 23: It seems that most of us are extremely sleep deprived today after staying up with severe weather last night. I am very thankful that we are all safe and secure this morning; however, our thoughts and prayers need to be with those near Birmingham. Hopefully, this is the last round of nasty weather for some time, but as we all know, Alabama weather is always changing.
HAPPY 2012! I'm very excited to start the final semester of the school year. I wish you all much success! I know you can do anything you set your mind to do, and I have complete faith in you!
A SEASON OF THANKFULNESS: The year 0f 2011 has been a season of ups and downs for our families, and through every experience God has shown his mercy and grace to me. In March our family was devastated by the death of a cousin and dear friend who left behind two sweet babies. I continue to mourn for her-sometimes so deeply that I wonder if we will ever be able to move past the raw ache felt to our core. Yet, it is in these times that God reminds us that Faith will guide us and lead us to a beautiful reuinion one day. Again in April, I was reminded of the fragility of life when an EF-5 tornado literally wiped our town away. Those days of immediate recovery were some of the most difficult we have seen in our lifetimes, but I am reminded of the Casting Crowns' song, "I Will Praise You in This Storm." Again, God sent his love, grace, and mercy to us in our time of doubt and despair.
In this season of thanksgiving, I want to begin by keeping God as my focus and thanking Him for holding my hand and keeping my family safe when we couldn't see the next step to take. I want to thank my students for blessing me with their love and letting me be part of their lives. I love each and every one of my "big kids," and I am so blessed that I get be your teacher and friend. I wish each and every one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
All my love,
Mary Kennedy
TALENTED PEOPLE COME FORWARD! Can you sing or play an instrument? Do you write poetry or karate chop boards? Can you dance like Dancing with the Stars? The Senior High Beta Club is sponsoring a talent show on Tuesday, November 22 after lunch. Please let Mrs. K know if you are interested in showcasing your talents.
HOT DIGGITY DOG! The Bears won last by coming back from a 21 point deficit. We ended the season with a winning streak. It was a special night for our seniors. I'm so proud of you, Seniors. Thank you for your dedication and support to PHS. You will greatly be missed next year. Love you Class of 2012.
Welcome, Ms. Diane Fields, student teacher from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Fields is spending the first semester with PHS students as she seeks to gain her teacher certification in English. She also has a background in computer science. A native of Brilliant, she has 2 sons, Gary and Andrew, and 1 adorable grandson, Harrison. She has quickly become a part of the PHS family, and we wish her the best in this endeavor.
