------------------------------------------------Meet a doula - Kelly Ebbett
I have been involved in the world of birth for many years.  My love for pregnancy, birth and parenthood/postpartum grew out of my early experiences working in a pediatric medical centre in Montreal.  I had decided to pursue Nursing and knew that maternity was where I wanted to be.  From my graduation in 1997, I went directly into reality and practiced in a maternity unit in Nova Scotia.  From there, my interest moved into teaching and becoming a doula.  In 1998, I attended a DONA training to become a doula, not even knowing what is was (I was told that it had something to do with birth and that I should go).  I’m glad that I did!  I was amazed at all that I learned and my nursing  practice changed immediately.  I felt I was better able to support women through labour & birth.  Since then, I have attended many births and continuing education conferences, became certified as a DONA Doula in 2001, have become a DONA Doula Trainer in 2007 and train new doulas as well as offer Prenatal classes as an ICEA Certified Prenatal Educator.
I look forward to hearing from you, if I can be of service.
