ERIK'S PAGE!

You found me! Not that I was hiding, but seeing as there are many WAY more exciting things to see on the site besides me, I figured this would be the last place you'd look! Hhmm, maybe it was!  Well where to start... I was born a long time ago,  managed to get married to the most beautiful woman in creation, and now have a wonderful family of my own! My primary lot in life is spreading the good news! I used to work in the emergency lifesaving business, but found out it had two major issues. First, it doesn't support a family! Being a firefighter and paramedic does not pay anywhere near what you would think such persons are worth! Second, it turns out that there is a far more important lifesaving work going on right now, and that's what I am all prettied up for over there in that picture!

Because the work I talked about above is all volunteer, THIS is what I do to support the family. I guess fire engines weren't big enough for me, so I traded them in for train engines! This picture is a great shot depicting what I do and the area I do it in. This means that what I do is sit still in sidings an awful lot, but at least I get to do it in beautiful surroundings! Currently, I have managed to accrue enough seniority that I have my choice of jobs, so I am working an "extra board" position, which means I have no regular schedule! But it supports the family well, and I get a day or two off between shifts to be home with the family!

Now here comes some boring stuff. unless you are a GEEK like me! You will have by now noticed the large red words to the left which describe me PERFECTLY! If you have a high speed internet connection, please feel free to CLICK HERE to see a very nice video explaining just how white and nerdy I really am...

Well, if you clicked it, what do you think? If you already know me, you no doubt will completely agree that I should have written that song seeing as it prety much sums me up! (Thank you Weird Al for that great video!). If you don't know me, let's just say I probably should have starred in that clip! So, on that happy intro, the geek talk will now begin!

I am an Amateur Extra Class Radio Operator, callsign KD6RRR. Any of you who have been around me know that there is almost ALWAYS some kind of radio chatter being heard in my general vicinity. I enjoy listening to the law enforcement and fire/medical radio traffic that is occurring in the area I am in, as well as monitoring local ham radio repeater traffic.

This is my GEEK MOBILE! My 2003 Ford F250 has a fuel sucking 6.8L V-10 and looks like a porcupine!
