Financial Literacy


COURSE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lost reflection journals - if a student has lost their weekly reflection journal they can print a new one from their home or media center printer, go to the attachments at the bottonm of the page to access the document. Students will not be permitted to use the classroom computer to print lost journals.
 
Spring Semester - On Your Own - Personal Finance Simulation Project.  Students need to have a 1 inch 3 ring binder with 5 divider tabs to keep their documentation.  This is a semester long computer simulation - a personal finance adventure that allows student to experience the day-to-day real life challenges of living on their own.  This project is worth 300 points and students will be documenting their activities as they go. The notebook will be divided into the following 5 tabs:
Start-up - 40 points
July -  75 points
August - 75 points
September - 75 points
Summary - 35 points
Students should have been prepared with a 3 ring notebook by Wednesday, January 18 and the five sections with properly labelled tabs by January 27.  I will only grade information that is hole-punched and placed in the proper tabs in the notebook.

COURSE INFORMATION

 

Students need to be informed about their financial responsibilities today and to prepare for the real choices ahead. In this course they will learn about career decisions, money management, financial security, credit management, resource management, risk management, and consumer rights and responsibilities. Business partnerships with financial companies, guest speakers, field trips, and work-based learning activities can be incorporated in this course. Mastery of these standards through project-based learning and leadership development activities of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) will help prepare students with a competitive edge for the global marketplace.
