Music for Dissonance

Dissonance is a piece of fanfiction written by Unwritten.25. It was archived in 2008. It has a wide variety of music mentioned in it, which I wanted the readers to be able to listen to, which is the reason for this web-page.
Music will be listed in alphabetical order, by artist's last name or group name. Songs will be listed in alaphabetical order underneath artist header. All files are either mediafire.

If you want to get all of the music in Dissonance, every file is located in this file. Files are divided individually, but there is an option to download the entire folder as well. If you're looking for something specific, it'd be better to search below.

3 Doors Down

  1. When I'm Gone
My favorite of their songs, When I'm Gone is played on guitar, with drums accompanying. However, in the story, the piano variation is played by Naruto.

BarlowGirl

  1. Mirror
A beautiful, heart-wrenching song that I absolutely love. The one in the band that wrote this - her name is Rebecca - she wrote it while she was dealing with an eating disorder. It related very deeply to how I thought Hinata felt, and it was so lovely I couldn't not use it. This is usually played with drums and guitar in the background, but in the story it has simply the piano melody and voice.

Beethoven, Ludwig

  1. Moonlight Sonata (Movement 1)
    Moonlight Sonata (Movement 2)
    Moonlight Sonata (Movement 3)
A wonderful song to listen to, and one my favorites of Beethoven's piano compositions. All of the links above are to mediafire.
  2. The Tempest
A wonderful song, and one of my favorite classical songs, The Tempest is originally played as a piano solo. It's played the same way in Dissonance
  3. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 5, Allegro Movement
I really like the piano part for this, as well as all of the dynamics throughout it all.

Blue Man Group, The

  1. PVC IV
The Blue Man Group is the shit. I got to see them live in Chicago, and they were amazing. I loved this piece when I went to see them, so I couldn't resist adding it into Dissonance. This is a Youtube link.

Bonham, Tracey

  1. Whether You Fall
This song is so amazingly beautiful. It's probably one of my favorite songs of all time; the lyrics are poetic and heart-warming and the melody is haunting and gorgeous.

Casting Crowns

  1. Slow Fade
This song is so beautiful and sad (and so is the music video!). I love this song so much. It really speaks to you, like a lot of Casting Crowns music does. This song usually uses an array of instruments (guitar, some piano, ect) but in the story it's played solely on piano. The link is to a YouTube video (the music video of the song).

Charlie Daniels Band, The

  1. The Devil Went Down to Georgia
A fun, lively song with a complex fiddle background. It's played with the fiddle, the acordion, the drums, and the bass guitar.

Chopin, Frédéric

  1. Nocturne for Piano and Violin
Such a lovely piece - better when it's played as a duet like it's supposed to be, but it's just as good on its own as well, like it's played in the story.
  2. Nocturne no. 9
Chopin's 9th nocturne is a very bright, almost playful melody that reminds me a lot of Naruto himself. The piece is played only on piano.

Christian Hymns

  1. A Mighty Fortress is Our God
This is a decent hymn - like Hinata, I'm not the biggest fan of them, so it made choosing one out hard. For anyone who's watched season three/four of Gilmore Girls, you'll know why I did. Originally it is played on an organ or piano, but in the story it is played acappela, with a choir singing. This version is sung by Tom Green, acapella, and the link is to a YouTube video.

 Clapton, Eric

  1. Tears in Heaven
Tears in Heaven is one of Eric Clapton's most famous songs - it won several awards when it came out in 1992. Naruto sings this song in Chapter One, with a creative piano background. The song I have is played with the guitar, as it was meant to be.
Coldplay
  1. Fix You
This song is just so absolutely beautiful, both in music and in lyrics. It's probably my favorite Coldplay song, and the song that got me to like that band in the first place.
Counting Crows
  1. Color-Blind
Definitely one of my favorite by Counting Crows. I've read that this song is supposed to be about virginity, actually, but the lyrics leave a lot up to the listener. The piano music, however, is completely lovely.
Dark Sanctuary
  1. Tout Ce Sang Verse
A beautifully sad and gorgeous piece of piano work. The spareness and beauty of the small piano melody is what makes it so moving - and it grows even more beautiful when the violins are added in near the middle. A lovely piece!
Dashboard Confessional
  1. The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most
I think what I've always loved most about Dashboard Confessional is their lyrics, and this song is no different. Beautiful lyrics, gorgeous melody...what else could you ask for from a song?

Debussy

  1. Claire de Lune
This is a delicate, beautiful piece, and I really do like it quite a bit. One of Debussy's most famous works. The link is to Youtube.

Dylan, Bob

  1. Abandoned Love
This wouldn't have been my first choice for Kushina's song, but I liked the lyrics. They probably mean something completely different, but the way I interpretated them, they fit well enough with Kushina's past. This song is played twice in the story - a snippet at the beginning, and then the full thing by Naruto in Chapter 22.
  2. A Hard Rain's A'Gonna Fall
This version is from The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan album. The song is originally on guitar, as most Bob Dylan songs are, and is played as such in Dissonance.
Evanescence
  1. Listen to the Rain
Apparently, Amy Lee wrote this for her high school choir to sing. Awesome! This song is really beautiful, and I couldn't help but add it in even though I know how unlikely it is that a choir would actually sing it.

Five For Fighting

  1. The Riddle
The Riddle is one of my favorite Five for Fighting songs; it's just one of those tunes that stick in your head, no? And the lyrics and music are lovely as well. It's originally played on the piano, and so it is played in Dissonance.

Folds, Ben

  1. Annie Waits
Such a fun, upbeat song. I especially like the clapping. This is one of my favorite songs by Ben Folds. Originally, I'm pretty sure it just has drums, guitar and piano. That's how it's played in Dissonance.

Fray, The

  1. You Found Me
This is such a beautiful song, and I adore the Fray so very much that I had to put it in.

Gershwin, George

  1. Rhapsody in Blue
A wonderful blues-ish song, no matter how long it is! (In case you didn't know, that's about 16 minutes! Holy shit!) And, as an added random fact, it was one of the songs to be played in Disney's Fantasia 2000, which is how I first heard it.

Goo Goo Dolls, The

  1. Acoustic #3
A wonderful song played on guitar, with little to no other instruments accompanying it.
  2. Iris
The most wonderful song you could ever listen to. It's what got me hooked on the Goo Goo Dolls to begin with. The instrumentals are wonderful, and the lyrics really speak to you - especially when they're sung in the spine-tingly voice of Johnny Rzeznik! While Iris has an array of musical instruments playing with it, in Dissonance it is played with only the piano accompanying it.
  3. Sympathy
I love this song. The melody is extremely catchy (beware: you will find yourself humming it at the oddest times) and the lyrics are amazing. Originally done with a guitar, but it's played on the piano in Dissonance.

Grant, Natalie

  1. Awaken
Such a beautiful song - Natalie Grant is one of my favorite Christian singers. The song is originally played with a guitar background, but it is adapted to piano in the story.
  2. Bring It All Together
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Not only are the lyrics wonderful, but the vocals are powerful and inspiring. When I first heard it, I couldn't help but listen to it over and over on repeat. The song is originally with a chorus background group, but in the story it is sung as the single duet.

Irish Folk Songs

  1. Danny Boy
Danny Boy is an old Irish folk song - and a very sad one at that. In Dissonance Kushina is half-Irish, half-Japanese (odd combination, I know), and Naruto learned this song as he grew up with her. This version is sung by Michael Londra.
Jackson Waters
  1. Come Undone (Acoustic)
Love this song! The melody is what really moves me, but the lyrics are just as beautiful.
Krauss, Allison
  1. Down to the River
One of my favorite choral pieces ever. It's fairly simplistic, but the melody and part-changing are beautiful.
Lauridsen, Morten
  1. Dirait-On
I absolutely adore this song. It's so beautiful! I had the pleasure of singing it in an all-women's choir, and I have to admit I like it better that way...but even with the men/women combo it's a beautiful piece.

Lennon, John

  1. Working Class Hero
Usually, I would dislike this song, but the lyrics are very powerful, and I like them a lot, even if they are cynical. Plus liking it fit well to Kushina's rebel image. Originally, it's played with a guitar background, but in Dissonance a piano variation is played instead.

Liszt, Franz

  1. Un Sospiro
A very melodic, piano melody that is notoriously hard to play. It's a work that can be handled by those talented at piano, but by no one less.

Mae, Vanessa

  1. The Devil's Trill
This song has been done so many times, both on piano and violin, but Vanessa Mae's version continues to be my favorite. It has originality as well as the traditional melody, and that's what makes me love it!

May, Corrinne

  1. Scars (Stronger For Life)
I absolutely adore this song - Corrinne May has such a wonderful voice, and the lyrics are awesome! This song was originally played with a piano background, but Naruto adds a simple guitar background instead.

McLachlan, Sarah

  1. Angel
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard; the lyrics are provoking and the music is heart-wrenching. Originally done with a piano, as it is in the story, although it's sung originally by a woman.
Mozart
  1. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 26 Coronation in D
I'm not the biggest fan of classical music, but Mozart is definitely one of the best, and I do like this piece quite a bit. The link is to a Youtube recording.
  2. Mozart Flute Concerto No.1 K.313, 1st Movement
This piece is played by Sakura, but she is only playing the flute part, not the background orchestra parts. The link is to a youtube video.
Muse
  1. Unintended (Acoustic)
Such a lovely piece. I definitely like better when it's acoustic. The haunting melody and falsetto make all the more pleasing to the ear.

Point of Grace

  1. How You Live (Turn Up the Music)
I love Point of Grace. Seriously. The music is a bit . . . "country-ish" but it sounds wonderful, and the lyrics are very good. This one was chosen because of the choice Hinata was making when she decided to sing it. It originally has (I believe) a guitar background and a voice accompianment. It's played acapella in the story.

Ravel, Maurice

  1. Tzigane
This is a long song. 10 minutes, at least! But it's pretty and easy to listen to, if you don't mind the length.

Red

  1. Break Me Down
Red isn't normally one of my favorite bands, but I do like a couple of their songs, this one in particular. It's angry and it's sad, and it worked well with Naruto's mood at that point in the story. Originally, Red has a whole slew of instruments, ranging from drum to violin, but Naruto plays it with a simple guitar background.
Rice, Damien
  1. 9 Crimes
If there was ever a time when I would only be allowed to know one song in my entire life, this would be it. This song is so sad and breathtakingly gorgeous. I can't give it enough praise. Damien Rice is an amazing artist and an amazing singer.

Robinson, Smokey

  1. Tracks of My Tears (Gavin Degraw)(Youtube)
Tracks of My Tears (Adam Lambert)
I first heard this song on American Idol, sung by Adam Lambert, and immediately fell in love with it. It has such beautiful lyrics, and it draws you to it because of how much you can empathize with the words. I love this song. One of the versions is the words used in Dissonance (Degraw version) while the other is what I was thinking it would sound like when writing it (Lambert version).

Saving Jane

  1. Imperfection
I adore this song. Go Saving Jane! This song speaks to women everywhere, don'tcha think? XD Ino sings this song with just a guitar, but I'm pretty sure it's played with more instruments...
  2. From the Sky
This song is what inspired the whole Ino/Sakura subplot. I really like it; the lyrics really speak to me and the tune is very catchy.

Schultz, Mark

  1. He's My Son
This is one my favorite Mark Schultz songs; he has such a wonderful voice, and he plays the piano beautifully. This song is from the album He's My Son and is originally played with a piano background.

Shinedown

  1. Burning Bright
A wonderful song - one of my only favorites by Shinedown - that descibes my Naruto pretty well, I'd think. I love the lyrics and the music. This is usually played with guitar (and I belive drums and other instruments, but I don't remember clearly) and in the story it's played acoustic.

Simon and Garfunkel

  1. Sound of Silence
A beautiful song by two very talented singers and song-writers. This song is one of my favorite by them, and I couldn't resist adding it in. Orignally, it is played with a guitar (I believe) but I had the piano version played in the story.

Smith, Michael W.

  1. Place in This World
This song was originally played on piano and voice, and is played the same in the story. Michael Smith has a really cool voice, and he's very easy to listen to. The lyrics are really inspiring, and I liked that they fit somewhat with my story.

Tchaikovsky

  1. Sixth Symphony (Pathetique)
The music for Tchaikovsky's 6th symphony is very beautiful, but also very chaotic; it fit well with Neji's mood at the moment. The original is played with a full orchestra, but this particular version only has the solo piano. Watch out - it's 10 minutes long! The link is to a YouTube video.
  2. Violin Concerto, Allegro Moderato part 1
Violin Concerto, Allegro Moderato part 2

I do actually love the solo part on this (I love this soloist in this particular video of this piece as well!) and the orchestra part isn't that bad either!

Teng, Vienna

  1. Lullaby for a Stormy Night
This is such a beautiful song with such wonderful lyrics. Vienna Teng has a voice to be proud of. It's originally played with a piano background, with a voice accompiament.
Three Days Grace
  1. Home
I love the power of this song. The lyrics and the music are both really angry and powerful and dark. This is just an amazing song all together, actually.
Trading Yesterday
  1. Shattered (MTT version)
This is one of the most gorgeous songs I've ever heard. I love it when it builds up into the "and I've lost who I am" part, but overall it's just an amazing, beautiful song.
Whitacre, Eric
  1. A Boy and a Girl
One of the most hauntingly beautiful choral pieces I've ever heard or sung. It's also a bitch to try and learn.

Wreckers, The

  1. Stand Still, Look Pretty
I think this song really speaks to a lot of women out there, and I love the melody. It's probably one of my favorite songs by The Wreckers.

Various Artists

  1. Amazing Grace
This is such a wonderful song - I absolutely adore it. It can be played with pretty much any instrument, but in the story it is played with a solo violin and voice. The link is to a Youtube video with the Leann Rimes version of the song.

UPDATE (June 29 2010): Sorry for the music delays and all that. I've gotten a bit lazy about keeping this thing up, I admit. But it should all be here now, and I will update it sooner after new chapters.

UPDATE (July 20th 2010): I'm going through this site and changing all youtube links into mediafire downloads. It'll take a few days, but they should all be downloads by the 23rd.
