At KCC, not only does your child get the best care available...they are also preparing for school.
The Creative Curriculum is incorporated into all of our classrooms; infants through preschool. It is based off of five key components; 1) How Children Develop and Learn, 2) The Learning Environment, 3) What Children Learn, 4) The Teacher's Role, and 5) The Family's Role. You may have noticed that in your child's classroom, there are different areas. Creative Curriculum calls these "interest areas." The interest areas are Blocks, Dramatic Play, Toys and Games, Art, Library, Discovery (Science), Sand and Water (Sensory Table), Music and Movement, Cooking, Computers, and Outdoors. Each classroom is set up differently to compliment the ages and interests of the children. At KCC, we do bi-weekly or monthly themes, and interest areas are updated to reflect the current theme.
Example, for "Camping" we may have a tent, sleeping bags and flashlights in dramatic play, books on camping, hiking and fishing in the library, and the children may make smores for their cooking project.
For literacy and art, they may write and illustrate a group story of a camping trip.
For the discovery (science) area, they may have pine cones, leaves, twigs and magnifying glasses. Please visit this link to view each of these in more detail. Creative Curriculum |
