The belief in, a better way to do things, is the basic tenet of scientific enquiry. I have spent last few years studying computer networks & programming and now I want to devote my time to research, in order to realize my long term goals.

My programming skills and knowledge of microprocessors and microcontrollers impelled me to take up a project on “Remote Process Control using GSM Mobile Phones” as a senior year student. This project gave me a chance to bring together my two areas of interest – computer networks and embedded system programming. It required me to create a backend Assembly Language program and an end-user interface in Visual Basic. This project was commercially deployed, and enabled users to control home appliances remotely through their cellular phones.

During my under-graduation years I worked towards obtaining professional certifications. Soon after graduating, I obtained MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) & MCSA (Microsoft certified Systems Administrator) certifications. These certifications ingrained in me finer Operating System & Computer Networking concepts at the LAN level. Furthering my work in the networking arena, I took up CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification, which validated my expertise in switching and routing protocols, TCP/IP, WAN technologies and management, and familiarity with a variety of communication protocols.

During my job as a Network Administrator at Joshi Electronics and Electricals – a corporate firm, I managed data flow between two sites having high network dependency. My key job was to ensure TCP/IP communication & IP Routing works seamlessly in the corporate Inter-network. This involved installation & configuration of routers & routing protocols, which acquainted me with better understanding of working of routing protocols like RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, and OSPF.

As I researched on data communication through wireless and wired computer networks, I wrote a paper on “Modern Trends in Wireless Technology”. This paper encompassed study & analysis of contemporary connectivity standards & wireless networking technologies. It was among the 32 papers chosen and presented at the national level.  Apart from delving deep into the field of Computer Networks, I have tried to broaden my perspectives in other fields of Computer Science as well. I have developed a “Sales and Inventory management System”, based on a client-server architecture, to better understand the Object-Oriented paradigm. I have also developed a “Payroll Processing System” using the Model View Controller architecture of programming. This exposure to software life-cycle has given me an insight into the finer aspects of software development.

On the non-technical front, I have been member of Student’s Council, organized a University Level Technical Symposium at college, in which I managed a core committee of around 20 people and learned team work and people skills. I have also been active member of the Rotaract Movement (youth wing of Rotary International).
