After much discussion, my group chose to do a powerpoint game related to fifth grade mathematics. As our hook, we used the game of basketball. We attempted to make the game enjoyable by adding familiar players, sites, and techniques to the lesson. Throughout the game students are challenged by answering analytical questions, not simply answers they can find in their textbook. Students are required to use their critical thinking skills to devise the answers to mathematical problems. Though there can only be one winner, each student playing will enjoy the experience, while simultaneously learning important concepts.
