What I'm doing now...

    I know i haven't posted news for a while but i have still been working on starbound daily.  Right now im working on the difficult framework for colonies.  I have been doing some modelling for the buildings and im working on getting all the boring stuff done so i can easily create multiple planets which can be populated with unique colonies.  You will be able to place building anywhere you like and the colony design is up to you.  More updates and screenshots will be coming soon!

    The first enemy: the laser droid.  Can now follow a target and fire at it when its close enough to make a hit and when its aimed properly.  Here is the next breakthrough in the game:

    You can barely see the tiny little droid but it shooting laser blasts right towards the ship.  I will continue adjusting the Behaviours of the computer controlled enemies to make them smarter and more of a challenge.

I have made a rough model of a laser droid that patrols an area of space and shoots at any enemy that approaches it.

First Signs of a User Interface!

    The newest feature implemented in starbound is a user interface system.  Now i can easily create Hull bars and exp bars and anything else i need.  Here is a little screenshot of a rough attribute bar i quickly made up:


    Also to the left of the screen you can see a little astroid,  it isnt very exiting but its a starting point for a long list of rapid updates!

    

Collision Detection

    This isn't probably the most exiting update but starbound now has a collision engine!  Now i can move on with other things that require detecting if two objects have collided like a laser beam and another ship!

    Development of starbound is going great im adding new things every day so i will try to post an update at least twice a week so keep checking in.  I have done alot in starbound so far such as creating a relistic mouse controled flight system and i have created a framework to add new weapons easily.  Most of the work i have been doing was behind the scenes but here is a little screenshot of what i have so far:


Sorry about the bad quality of the sceenshot but thats a good picture of the thins i have done so far.  Oh and dont worry about the bad ship model.  That is just a placeholder until i finish my ship modelling.  I will be implementing some more combat related things such as laser turrrets so i can fine tune my ship flight system.  So keep checking this site for updates!
