I like radio. Over time I found some great radio stations and programs in different parts of the world. Nowadays most FM radio stations are also streaming online. Below is a list of my favorite programs. Note that program times are all in local time.

Jazz

  • BBC Jazz on 3: weekly on Monday night, with concerts and interviews, from the UK. You can listen to past shows for one week.
  • DLF Jazz Live: weekly program from Germany with concerts, every Monday evening.
  • KCSM 91.1 All Out: weekly 4 hour long program on Thursday evening with free and avantgarde jazz, hosted by Greg Bridges. From the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • KPFA 94.1 Point of Departure: weekly on Saturday afternoon, two hours of adventurous jazz, hosted by Horace Mansfield. From the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Late Night Jazz from RBB Kulturradio (Germany): biweekly program with concerts (Saturday night) and CD reviews, interviews, features (Sunday night).
  • LORA 92.4 Time for Jazz: weekly two hour long program on Friday evening. Every fourth Friday of the month: Avantgarde. From Munich, Germany.
  • VPROJazzLive: concert recordings and live broadcasts from the Bimhuis and other Dutch jazzclubs, and new jazz CDs (Thursday and Friday evening; monthly live broadcast from the Bimhuis on Saturday evening). From the Netherlands.
  • WDR 3 Jazz: daily at 10pm, hourly program with concerts, CD reviews and features. From Germany.
  • WDR 3 Jazznacht: every first Sunday of the month from midnight to 6am, reviews and recordings from European jazz festivals.

  • No Other Radio Network on KPFA 94.1 FM: 90 minutes of dark ambient, every Tuesday night after midnight, from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Progressive Rock

  • Emergency Circus on KPFA 94.1 FM: the best progressive rock show I know of, 3 hours every third Sunday night of the month from the San Francisco Bay Area, hosted by Gary N. Playlist on twitter.com/emergencycircus.
  • Arrow Symfo Mania on Arrow FM Rock: one hour long program on Tuesday evening, with progressive and symphonic rock, from the Netherlands.
