Recycling at North Hills Junior High
The North Hills Junior High School is partnering with Abitibi Consolidated, the largest recycler of newspaper and magazines in North America in a recycling initiative. Abitibi has placed a green and yellow recycling bin (located behind the Junior High School) for collection of recycled materials. Abitibi collects our recycled materials and pays us for every ton of paper. This money goes directly to various school initiatives.
WHAT WE ARE DOING IN SCHOOL:
Students and staff are discarding recyclable materials into classroom recycling containers. Those containers, which were generously donated by Office Depot, will be emptied into the Abitibi bin by Caring Team student volunteers. (The Caring Team is a student fundraising organization assisting families in need of healthcare.)
HOW PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN HELP:
Take your piles of unwanted paper-almost any type of paper is accepted-to the dumpsters: catalogs, office paper, construction paper, notebooks, newspaper, junk mail, and magazines. Please place these items in the bins (they do not need to be bundled). The bright green and yellow dumpster-sized bin is located behind the Junior High School. Feel free to take your recyclable papers to the bin. The paper will be 100% recycled and made into newsprint. PLEASE, NO PHONEBOOKS, CARDOBARD, PLASTICS, GLASS, METALS OR TRASH! Continue to recycle these items as you always have.
YOU CAN ALSO:
Contact us to have an Abitibi Recycling Bin placed outside a business or organization with the proceeds going directly to the school.
Recycling is an easy way that everyone can support our commitment to conservation. In partnering with Abitibi, our efforts will help the environment. This initiative benefits the school, community, and environment.
So, please, help by joining our efforts! If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Karenbauer at (412)318-1000 x4547, or Jennifer DiPasquale (412) 318-1000 x1474, or Assistant Principal Beth Williams at (412)318-1455.
