Karae NL Provincial Team 2011 sent 13 competitors to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia for the 2011 Canadian Atlantic Karate Championships 05 Feb 2011. All competitors distinguished themselves with good performances. In all we won 18 medals (Gold, Silver & Bronze). Every team member gave a dedicated effort and a fine performance. We are proud of you all and congratulate you all on a job well done.

KNL is offering karate fun & fitness days as part of its Active Start Program to promote fitness through karate fundamentals. There is “no charge” but the number of participants is limited. Each karate member may invite one friend (free) to participate with him/her in the karate fun & fitness session on that day. There is no charge for the invited friend. This first of these days was Sat 27 Nov 2010. The second will be Sat 29 Jan 2011.
When: 29 Jan 2011 Sat Where: St. Georgers School, CBS Time: Session A (10am) Session B (2pm)
Karate members may participate by completing a registration form to be submitted to Coach Wing Au Please register only if you are completely committed to attending. Do not waste a place which another child would be able to fill. Deadline has been extended for a few days ... please contact Coach Au as soon as possible (Fri 28 Jan latest). |

Karate NL Tournament #2 will take place at the Powerplex, Crosbie Road, St. John's, NL. Date: Sat 22 Jan 2011 starting at 9:00am with junior events..
Individual registration form is attached below. Individuals may only register through the dojo/club leader.
KNLTournament registration for dojos is also attached below. This is the form that must be forwarded to Tournament Co-ordinator by deadline (18 Jan 2011).

Karate NL Tournament Registration
Location : The Powerplex (NL Provincial Training Center), Crosbie Road, St. John’s, NL: *Note: “No outside footwear permitted in gym area.” Leave outside or carry in a waterproof bag*
Date : 20 Nov 2010
Time : 9:00 am. to 1:00 pm. (Junior events 12yrs & under). 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm . (Junior events 13yrs & older; Senior events)
Please appreciate the times given are an estimation and competitors should arrive and be ready 30 mins prior.
Cost : $15 – Any 1 event, $25 – Any 2 events, $30 – all 3 events (Kata, Team Kata & Kumite) - Team Kata 3 members – designate team captain.
- Divisions determined by highest ranking/age member on the team
- Kumite – All competitor must have own gum shield , gloves (red, blue), belts (red, blue), jock for male, jill for female (optional), shin guard (optional),
All registrations must be received by Tournament Co-ordinator by deadline: 16 Nov 2010 TUE. |

13 Oct 2010: Karate NL Board of Directors appointed Tyler Engram as the new Director/Secretary. Mr. Engram fills the vacancy left with the departure of Mr. Justin Dunphy.
We were sorry to see Mr. Dunphy depart, however we wish him well with his studies at the University of New Brunswick.
Indeed, we are happy to welcome Mr. Engram on board and look forward to working with him in future.

KNL Tournament #2 is confirmed to go ahead on Jan 23, 2010 as scheduled.
All other scheduled tournaments are also confirmed to go ahead as planned in the KNL Calendar 2010. |

Please be advised that
due to fear of the H1N1 virus situation a significant number of member clubs
have decided not to participate in the Nov tournament at the Powerplex in
St. John’s,
NL.
Therefore the
Karate NL 14 Nov 2009
Tournament is cancelled.
The next scheduled
Karate NL Tournament is 23 Jan 2010
Saturday.
Apologies for any
inconvenience this may pose.
