Please welcome Mrs. Nancy Díaz to James Ward. She is currently seeking her education degree and will be spending a few months in the Spanish classroom. ¡Bienvenida Sra. Díaz!
Students and Parents, please practice the following daily until mastered. You can have your child repeat each number, day, etc. Have them count by fives or whatever suits your needs! 6th Grade - numbers 1-100, letters of the alphabet, days of the week, months of the year
7th Grade - numbers 1-1000, letters of the alphabet, days of the week, months of the year
8th Grade - numbers 1-1,000,000; letters of the alphabet; days of the week; months of the year; all verb sheets from prior years
There are thousands of websites available to practice the skills mentioned above. Feel free to choose the one that best suits your needs! Just do a quick web search for something like "spanish numbers" and you'll see what I mean. ( Studyspanish.com is a great start.)
For all grades, all students, EXTRA CREDIT is available...a huge variety of ways to earn points towards your average. From creating a powerpoint presentation to watching a Spanish television show, you can definitely find something you'd like to do. Here are the main topics will be studying for the weeks of March 12 and March 19th: 6th Grade: La Escuela. Chapter 2A from your Realidades textbooks. You must know your daily class schedule in Spanish as well as the materials necessary for each class. Also, you must know the things/furniture/etc. found in a typical classroom. Quiz on Friday. 7th Grade: Following instructions. All the phrases you need to know and how to react will be given in class: Levántate, Escribe tu nombre, Da la vuelta are just a few you will hear and need to perform. Quiz on Friday. 8th Grade: Poetry. Poems with numbers. Each student will have to memorize and be prepared to recite a poem by Friday. Here is the poem you need to memorize if you'd like to practice at home: LOS ELEFANTES Un elefante se balanceaba sobre la tela de una araña y como está no se rompía, fue a llamar a otro elefante. Dos elefantes se balanceaban... (repeat up to "cinco elefantes.") Juramento a la Bandera "Yo prometo lealtad a la bandera de los Estados Unidos de América y a la República que representa, una Nación bajo Dios indivisible, con libertad y justicia para todos."
