Hello. As you
know my charity for this year is Diabetes UK. I chose this charity because as
you may know Brian, my husband, had diabetes for 55 years. We were together for
45 of those years and despite Brian sticking strictly to his diet we had to
cope with some unpleasant side effects of the disease. There are two main types
of diabetes Type 1 and Type 2 controlled either by diet, tablets or insulin. Insulin
became available in 1921 and was and still is used to help control blood sugar levels. It is essential to eat a healthy diet
to help prevent serious long-term complications. Awareness and treatment has
improved tremendously over the years and I hope that however much we can raise, it will help towards future improvements and maybe even a cure one day.
I will be holding
an "afternoon tea" in my garden on Sunday 24th June and I hope as
many of you as possible will attend this event. I will be praying for fine
weather! I will give more details about this event nearer the time. Ladies, please don’t
forget if you visit the left hand bunker on the 7th hole or the pond in front
of the 9th I should be very grateful of a small donation. It is proving to be quite a busy time as Captain but so far I am enjoying the
challenge. Now that Spring is just around the corner Happy Golfing to you all!
Best Wishes, Kathy
