KTC has four sand-filled artificial grass courts (with lights for night-tennis) and a small clubhouse with toilet facilities and a small kitchen area. Maintenance is a significant expense for the Club so we do as much as we can ourselves. Regular "working bees" are organised to keep the grounds tidy and the courts in good condition. Review of Tennis Facilities in the ACT
Tennis ACT, with the support of the ACT Government through Sport and Recreation Services, commissioned an independent review of all tennis facilities/clubs in the ACT to determine their long-term viability and establish a facilities strategy for tennis in the ACT and region. KTC Court Resurfacing
Our 2 bottom courts are over 10 years old and are starting to show signs of wear. We are aiming to get them replaced with new synthetic grass before they become dangerous to play on. To oversee the court replacement, we have formed a sub-committee consisting of Peter Johns, Graeme Gunn, Narelle Raftery, Bill Roberts and Mike McKenna. They are looking into funding options including applying for a grant from the ACT Government via its Sports and Recreation Grant Program.
The biggest challenge (for a small club like ours) will be the raising of 50% of the court replacement cost to match the anticipated ACT Government sports grant. To increase our revenue, we have carried out some very successful fundraising activities over the last 12 months such as Bunnings/Harvey Norman sausage sizzles and chocolate drives. We will however need to do a lot more fundraising in the future to meet our financial target.

Progress to date (15/10/09)
- A grant application has been submitted and we have obtained quotes and references from three court surfacing firms.
- Members of the sub-committee attended a small "court surface expo" to find out about the various products available. A good source of information about sand-filled artificial grass surfaces for tennis is here - the Classic Game, Club40 and Satellite Plus surfaces are contenders for any new courts we lay.
