Health

People sometimes ask me if it is a "healthy" breed and the answer is "I don't know". I've been told that it is a healthy breed without any breedspecific problems.
HD (Hip Dysplasia) is a problem but then all breeds (more or less) does. I just don't know.
I have therefor "entertained" myself by extracting some statistics about the level of HD-carriers...
All numbers are extracted from kpchp: s database as it was on august 23, 2010.

Wikipedias definition of HD...
has a lot more information than the swedish counterpart.
New grading Present grading Explanation
A None Normal hips
B None Almost normal hips
C grade I Hips with small degree of dysplasia
D grade II Hips with moderate degree of dysplasia
E grades III-IV Hips with severe dysplasia

I'd like to emphasize that I know next to nothing about these things but from what I can gather, the Czechs uses the system that Sweden used up until 1999.
If my HD-degree comparison ("1" = "A"), I'd be grateful for an e-mail on the matter.

Please note that the total number of dogs are 3.340 which is 246 dogs LESS than the total number of dogs that the database consists of. I can't explain it. Perhaps something is not categorized correctly in the database?.

I thought 81% (total) and 80-88% (2007-2010, see table below) sounded really good, but I then checked the statistics on Leonberger and Bernese Mountain dog. Two breeds that I've often heard has major problems with HD.  Both breeds has A&B-% of 74-84% and that is not too bad - especially considering the size/weight comparative to Chodskys.

Someone who kan interpret statistics and knows about these things is very welcome to e-mail me and tell me if 80-88% is a good number or not...
