The breeds appearance is very similar to the german shepherd. I'd say about 9 out of 10 who sees my Kalista and dares to guess the breed says german shepherd.
The rest guesses a mixed breed with german shepherd in the mix.
The similarity might be the effect of the use of Chodský Pes in the breeding of the german shepherd in the 1880's.  Darri Stamo-Bud (download image in originalsize here).
Ears
The breeds most distinguishing feature is the standing ears that should be triangular (think gothic arches)
with either pointy earlobes or somewhat rounded. The ears should be hairy. My personal opinion is that the
rounded ears (with the gothic arches) are "more" Chodský Pes than the pointy ones. I think it's to much
German Shepherd over the pointy ears.

Coat and color
The only acceptable coloring is longhaired coat with a black and tan coloring.
The coat is longhaired with underwool (correct term?) (as opposed to the longhaired german shepherd). Size
Chodský Pes is a mediumsized dog.
Bitches: 49-52 cm (19.4" - 20.5")
Dogs: 52-55 cm (20.5" - 21.7")
A tolerance of +- 2 cm (0.79") is allowed.
Weight varies between 18-25 kilos. As comparison, a German shepherds measurements are 55-60 cm according to its breeding standard.
