7/17/2010 - “Dundicking” Distance: ~18.5 Elevation Gain: ~5000’ Time: ~11 hours Leon Tolstoy, Yevgeniy Petrov & I started hiking up the Lost lake Trail at the Dunraven Trailhead ~9 am. The number and diversity of the wildflowers along the trail was impressive. We left the trail at the Happily Lost Backcountry Campsite, then crossed the North Fork of the Big Thompson River and started bushwhacking south to treeline. Just above treeline Yevgeniy’s legs started cramping, so we instructed him to stay at a large rock outcropping so we could summit and return to him. We continued up to the east ridge of “Dundicking” skirting the summit of Mount Dickinson and followed the long ridge to the summit. The summit area is loaded with interesting boulders and has also been referred to as “Skull Rocks”. We returned via our ascent route. Flower on the approach.
