KALAGNY is proud to announce the launch of the 2011-2012 Mentorship Program. Building upon the popularity and strength of the program's previous offerings, KALAGNY invites both new and experienced participants in the program to become engaged in the program either as a Mentor (practicing attorney with 4 or more years of experience) or Mentee (current law student or attorney 3 or less years out of law school).- Dannie Cho KALAGNY Vice President and Chair of the Mentorship Program Last Year's Program Our 2010-2011 program encompassed more than 100 participants. Our mentees included students from every law school in the New York metropolitan area and junior attorneys. Our attorney mentors included judges and prosecutors, in-house attorneys, large and small firm attorneys, solo practitioners and public interest lawyers. Our Philosophy and Approach Our mentorship program provides students and new attorneys access to a broad network of attorneys who have volunteered their time to share insights on law school and the practice of law.The Program provides each mentee with two mentors and generally two co-mentees to form a mentoring group, to accommodate the demanding schedules of both mentor and mentee and to maximize exposure to professionals from a variety of professional backgrounds. Furthermore, we encourage participants to meet in groups in addition to one-on-one sessions to promote networking not only between mentor and mentee but between and among mentees and mentors respectively. We make every effort to pair mentees with mentors practicing in an area of interest to the mentee. Additionally, we will make every effort to provide prior participants with new pairings. However, we do encourage all participants to maintain relationships with their mentor groups even after the end of the program year. Programs Throughout The Year The Mentorship Program will include both formal and informal events throughout the year to foster the mentoring relationship and to provide tangible skills that can be immediately applied. Such programs include KALAGNY's mock interview program and various panel discussions as well as social receptions.Click links below to view pictures from some of our past events: - Interviewing Workshop - Panel Discussion With Local Assistant District Attorneys - KALAGNY's Members' Reception With Judges - KALAGNY's Career Development Panel Discussion - Holiday Party At Eden Sign me up...
