The total number of outpatient admissions increased by 36% in 2007. Usually there are 28 to 38 admitted patients in the wards at any one time. Of these, 75% were Bangladeshi Muslim, 17% indigenous minority Mandi, and 8% indigenous minority Borman (Hindu) 8%. Females 54%, Males 46%, under five years 27%. Deaths 2% (main causes: kidney failure and infant pneumonia).
The top ten problems were malnutrition, diarrhoeal diseases and pregnancy-delivery-newborn problems followed far behind by insecticide poisoning, asthma, infected sores, pneumonia and other fevers (and then by anaemia, psychiatric problems and gynecological problems).
Amongst all inpatients 38% were diabetic and 62% non-diabetic (general, nutrition and intensive care). Of ten inpatient paramedics, on overage 3 are working at any one time with diabetics and 7 with other patients. Inpatient pregnancy and delivery numbers are increasing. |
