Middle School News for Nov 8th

posted Nov 10, 2011 10:07 AM by David Boudolf

We had a great time at the MS Lock-in on Friday Night.  We had 23 of us locked in the building all night.  I think the highlight of the night was hide and seek in the dark halls of the church.  A special thanks to Brantley, Cary, and Sandi for making the night possible by staying with us all night.  Sunday Night 9 of us traveled to Hibben UMC to meet up with over 100 other youth from the Charleston District to Worship together.

This week we are celebrating our pumpkins sales by going to Jack Cosmic Dog.  Ms. Margaret is out of town so there will be no choir.  This gives us the opportunity to have youth from 5:30-7pm.  So we will meet at John Wesley at 5:30 go to Jacks and the youth ministry will buy your dinner.  This is a small way of saying thanks for making pumpkins a great success.

Wild Time in Clemson

posted Apr 14, 2009 6:14 AM by David Boudolf   [ updated Apr 14, 2009 6:46 AM ]

During the first weekend of April 10 High School Students and 3 adults set off for a weekend at Clemson University.  They arrived in time to watch the Tiger Baseball Team dominate the Duke Blue Devils.  That night they were greeted by Hardwood floors at Clemson UMC for a night of un-restful sleep.  Watching up the next morning the group traveled to the Outdoor Lap to play 30 feet up in the trees on the High ROPES Course.  It took courage, encouragement, and some laughs to get all the youth though the course.  During the afternoon they traveled to Mac's Drive In for Burgers and Fries.  They returned to the Saturday Night ball game and sat in the outfield to watch a what could only be described as a miracle, Duke beat Clemson in baseball.  To get rid of the sarrow they headed to Mellow Mushroom to watch the final four and see if anyone would sing Karaoke.  They headed back to the hard floors and slept from total exhaustion.  The next morning they attended Clemson UMC early service and then hit the road to return to Charleston.

Middle School Youth "Connects" in March

posted Apr 14, 2009 5:52 AM by David Boudolf

March was made for the Middle School Youth at John Wesley.  Our Wednesday Night Group has had consistent participation.  We also have a new mascot(John PATRICK Wesley) who is a stuffed animal rat.  Why a rat, because that is what Mrs. Hope gave us.  Be on the lookout for pictures of Partick and his adventure with the Middle School Youth.  Two big events that Partick missed were the Sharp Top Cove Retreat and the Middle School Fun Night.  Sharp Top Cove had 15 of us travel to North Georgia for a great weekend.  The highlight was watching the youth Zip Line into a pond with the outside temperature  of 41 (if that hot).  The speaker was good and the fellowship was great.  Also in March we had a huge Middle School Fun Night.  We had over 45 Middle School Youth shooting finger blasters, eating a 30 bannan split, and just massive controlled chaos for 2 and half hours.  To make the whole event possible we had super adult help ( The Acheys, Inabinetts, Metzs, Gamble, Robertses, Sadlers, and Boudolf).   The next Middle School Fun Night is Scheduled for May 15th.

Inside Jokes from Springmaid

posted Feb 9, 2009 7:20 AM by David Boudolf

During the weekend of Feb 6th-8th 11 middle school youth and 3 adults joined over 550 youth from all over the state for a Spiritual life retreat in Myrtle Beach.  We stayed at the Springmaid Resort.  The speaker challenged us to know that we are all Broken and by the love of God(Jesus) we can be made whole.   Also this trip had some great inside jokes.  These are the inside jokes from that trip:
Big Toe
Punched in the Face by Jesus
Lauren's Birthday
Emily (who's real name was Amy)
Honking at the guys
David on Mountain Dew

Youth collects over $500 to help fight Hunger in Charleston

posted Feb 3, 2009 6:38 AM by David Boudolf

The youth participated in a national program called “Souper Bowl of Caring” where youth are challenged to raise money for organizations in their area that are making a difference in the fight against hunger.  After each worship service at John Wesley the youth asked that everyone who attended to donate at least one dollar, and the total amount collect was over $500.  The John Wesley Youth Ministry decided to donate half of the money to the Charleston Crisis Center and the other half to the Star Gospel Mission.  The youth thank everyone who donated to this year’s “Souper Bowl of Caring”.

2nd Annual Flag Football Game

posted Jan 22, 2009 8:07 AM by David Boudolf

The 2nd Annual Flag Football Game has been set for Sunday February 1st at 1:30pm.  This year’s MVP voting has OLD SCHOOL vs. NEW SCHOOL coaching duel between Retired Youth Leader Mike Parish and Rookie Youth Leader Rick Fleming.  Jeff Gleim was heard saying, " It is going to be hot in the kitchen."  Which none of us knows what that means we just write it off to the fact that he is a Chef.  Mike is excited about returning to his role as the ultimate player coach and has been working plays that that will amaze.  Chrissy, Rick's wife, says my husband has been spending every waking minute preparing for this matchup.

All youth, friends, and parents are welcome to be part of the game.  The player draft will occur at 1:30pm on Sunday February 1st at James Island County Park.  You don't want to miss this event.

Bowling Party Report

posted Jan 22, 2009 8:00 AM by David Boudolf

We had a blast at the all Youth Bowling Party on Sunday January 18th.  We had over 25 youth and adult volunteers at the event.  High Scorer for the night was Rick Fleming with a 153 that he says that if the lane did not break and have to be repaired in the 7th frame he would have bowled much higher.  Also we saw a ball get stuck behind the bumpers on one of the middle school lanes.  Drew Costa was entertained by watching David knock his ball in the gutter, and Charlie Black had the shot of the night as his ball bounced over the gutters onto another lane.  Don't miss our next All Youth Event the 2nd Annual Flag Football game February 1st at James Island County Park at 1:30pm.
