in an attempt to impress my girlfriend (lord knows why) i unveiled where all of my funds were draining and why i had been spotted at home depot and hobby stores in the area. she so fittingly replied that she wouldn't be impressed until i made a deodorant stick sink and control it. the (U)nderwater (D)eodorant (S)tick (i) one was then born my initial design was with a flat, standard stick but i think i'm going to try to modify a roll on stick instead. the only real obstacle i see so far - aside from miniaturizing - is the clearness of picture from a bowled plastic top and how well it will seal. i intend to epoxy to near lethal measures. as far as the specs are concerned, the sketch is very detailed. there are three motors, similiar in placement to the J'SFRii and a front mounted camera with a few leds to provide night or - for some reason - deeper dives. if the concept works, and i'm pretty confident it will, it would be a nice little toy series to take to schools or technical centers and have made into a project. the two tables show the latest to scale (kind of) designs in 3d rendering using sketch up. i'm very very pleased with how it looks and i'm currently cleaning out the Old Spice Mountain Fresh stick that will house everything

purple is the main housing blue is a water seal to keep a dry area for electronics gold is the top mounted motor - there will be two more motors mounted in the open back half of the housing sparkfun, again, has a lot of the toys i need and there are some trolling motors on bobbers that are water proof and run on battery that i have ordered. they will be converted and hard wired. there are two unique ideas i have for this design, though. the relay housing and the control/power system the relay housing should hopefully end up in a nineties gameboy game casing sealed with wax and made as waterproof as possible in case of leak. but the idea should work without any issue and the old durable plastic casing is easy to manage and impressively tough. the controls and power will hopefully come from the handheld gameboy sp series. there is a mod company that makes a digital camera for the hardware and the gameboy runs the software. the controls will be scrapped from the gameboy, all but the on/off and picture snapping button, and will be rewired to the relays on the sub. the power will come from either a strong, rechargeable battery pack, or a boat generated electrical source. while video feed would be available, it could only be recorded through pictures. |
