WelcomeStatement of PurposeThanks for checking my online resume. I am, first and foremost, a writer. I write comedy. Political satire and news parody are my favorite topics, though I have also written in other genres. I am also a digital filmmaker, and I have worked with both PCs and Macs. In 2008 I graduated the BECA program at SFSU with some distinction, receiving an awards for writing, and chosen to represent my department as a distinguished graduate student. I'm open to work on almost any project, as long as it takes place in the greater Bay Area, though I would gladly travel for that perfect job. In addition, I'm a musician and songwriter, providing soundtrack and mood music to aid my films, and for my own enjoyment. I have also done some music composition for casual flash games. Music has always been more of a hobby for me, but I find it useful to experiment with all forms of media. I am my main audience. Versatility is my strong suit, I can write in the morning, film at noon, do sound and editing in the evening, and DVD author at night. For now, I'm just looking to prove myself to the industry and carve out my niche. Thanks for your consideration. University of California at Santa Cruz 1997-2002Bachelor of Arts, Philosophy Minor, Theater Arts ExperiencePSAV, San Francisco, CA 2010-Present Event Technician Specialist PSAV is a global company specializing in setting up audio-visual equipment in corporate settings like hotels and convention centers. I have been working at the Union Square Hilton doing just that. In some ways this expands on the House Managing position I had at NSIFC, in that there is a strong customer service side to the job in addition to the technical requirements. However, instead of one small screening room, now I'm responsible to help set up shows and presentations for thousands in the largest hotel on the west coast of the USA. The Variety Society, San Francisco, CA 2010-Present Head Writer/Producer They said it couldn't be done. They said that a group of semi-professional filmmakers could never create a late night comedy landmark from scratch. Well, they were wrong. The Variety Society is an organization so secret that you might be a member already without even knowing it. It's a conspiracy of comedy. But seriously, TVS is a creative side project from Viral Media Network, an independent advertising and production house put together by some associates of mine. I was brought on as head writer and also took on some producing responsibilities. Inspired by old-timey radio and late night comedy shows, TVS is an attempt to experiment with the conventions of late night and cross promote various Bay Area talent and musicians. Ninth Street Independent Film Center, SF, CA 2008-2010House Manager NSIFC is a resource center for independent filmmakers. Located in the heart of the SOMA in San Francisco, NSIFC is a great place to find other filmmakers or to screen your work. As House Manager, I have a variety of duties. I am in charge of marketing and promotions for the screening room, as well as booking and scheduling. I manage all house staff and projectionists. I also do general, technical work in the screening room itself, helping our clients set up equipment, etc. I love this job because I get to participate in and supervise some really cool events and premieres. Every group has a different character, and I have met literally hundreds of people in the San Francisco Independent Film Community. San Francisco Circus Center, San Francisco, CA 2008-2010 Writer, Assistant After graduating from SFSU, the first job I was able to find was with a woman named Judy Finelli. Ms. Finelli is a familiar name in the circus world. She is one of the first well-known female jugglers, and a co-founder of the San Francisco Circus Center. Circus Center is one of the best Circus Schools in America. Ms. Finelli was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the 1980's, and is now a full quadriplegic. While I was originally hired to help complete her autobiography, my duties have expanded to include designing lesson plans, co-writing play reviews and articles, setting up and running Ms. Finelli's blog, daily correspondence, and a variety of other tasks. Ms. Finelli is a font of showbiz wisdom, and I'm hoping some of that magic rubs off on me. Newsline365.com 2008-2009Political Guest Author I have been writing serious political news articles for an online news magazine.
