The committee have again this year agreed that the Group will subsidise a two course meal after the AGM .

The cost of the meal is £17.95.

£10 per person.

Each member will need

to pay £7.95.

The subsidy applies to all members who had paid their yearly fees

by 1st April 2012. 

Any members joining after

1st April 2012 are also invited to join us on the evening but will be asked to pay the full amount of £17.95 for their meal.

  Following two successful Cake Competitions we are pleased to congratulate Judi and Averil on their

winning entries.   They have agreed to share their recipes with you all.  So get baking   … !!

 

Carrot Cake (by Averil)

 

8oz self raising flour,  2 teaspoons baking powder,  5oz muscovado sugar,  4oz (approx) grated carrot,   1 small banana (mashed),    nuts (optional),    3 eggs beaten,    150ml sunflower oil.

 

Filling:  Whole family tub of Philidelphia, 2oz butter,   4 oz (approx to taste) icing sugar,  walnuts to decorate.

 

Method:  Sift flour and baking powder, add sugar, carrots, and banana.  Pour in b eaten egg and oil.  Beat until thoroughly combined.  Put into two tins and bake at 180 deg C  (fan 160, 350 deg F and gas mark 4) for approx 40 minutes or until risen and cooked in the middle.  Beat together the filling ingredients and fill and decorate cake.

 

Lemon Drizzle Cake  (by Judi)

 

This recipe makes a 450 gram/1lb cake.  Preheat oven to 180 deg C, fan 160, 350 deg F and gas mark 4. Grease and greaseproof paper line the loaf tin.

 

4oz butter,  6oz self raising flour,  6oz caster sugar,  2 eggs,  4 tablespoons milk, rind of 1 lemon

 

Method:  Beat together all the ingredients for approx 2mins.   Spoon mixture into the loaf tin, make a well in the centre and bake for approx. 1 hour, until well risen and golden.  Loosen edges of cake from tin.

 

Mix together the juice of 1 lemon with 3tbsp of icing sugar and spoon over the hot cake.  Leave in tin till cold and enjoy!
