The way the "Openbox Menu" works in Crunchbang Linux is sublime. If you haven't tried Crunchbang Linux, you're in for a treat. Get it here: http://crunchbanglinux.org 0. Right-click on the desktop and select - Preferences > Openbox Config > Gui Menu Editor. The Obmenu window opens up and inside the window you will see the root Openbox Menu tree. Click on the Openbox 3 tree arrow to expand it. 1. You can add a new menu category or you can create a new menu item within a category. Click in the area where you want add the new menu. To add a new item to an existing menu, click on the "New Item" button. A new item is created above a selected item. 7. Give the item a name by typing in the "Label" box. 8. *Very important*, type in the run command for the program that you are adding. This is the command that you would normally place in run-box dialog or that you would type into a terminal to open the program. For instance, if you installed Virtualbox, you would write, virtualbox into the execute box. If you installed Blender, you would write, blender into the box. (Note*, make sure that the action menu is set to "Execute". You can create other actions to add to your menu for each program. So for instance, you can create a sub-menu for Program, then have a menu item that starts the program and a second menu item that exits the program.) 9. Use the arrows to move the item up or down. 10. Use the "New separator" button to create a separation, ie to separate categories. 11. And finally and most important, select "File > Save " to save your new menu. The new menu is updated instantly. |
