In this episode we talk to Dr David Schultz, Atmospheric Scientist and author of Eloquent Science. He shares some of his own public engagement experiences and lessons learned. His top tips? You are speaking to an audience you are not doing this for yourself, you really need to address their concerns. Draw from your own experience – stories, analogies, facts that really show the audience that you have some personal insight into the research problem. Interact and involve the audience – ask questions, challenge them, leave them thinking about how they can apply what you have said to their own lives. And finally be enthusiastic and have fun – if you aren't expressing your excitement about your work the audience will pick that up.
