International Folk Dance Camp in the MidwestBeloit College, Beloit, WI May 31 - June 3, 2012Željko Jergan Croatian Dance
Larry Marcus Israeli Dance
For over 50 years, regional "June Camp" has been a tradition in the Midwest folk dance community. From May 31 to June 3, 2012, June Camp will be held at beautiful Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. This year's camp features teaching of Croatian folk dance by Željko Jergan and Israeli folk dance by Larry Marcus. Larry was our very able videographer last year, and will fill that role again this year, as well as teaching. More information about the teachers is available under the "Teachers" tab at left. Again this year, you can make an extra long weekend of it, beginning on Thursday, May 31, with a request dance party! Both our featured teachers will be with us from Thursday evening on. A full day of music and dancing on Friday will include the Dance Exchange, where you can request dances you may have forgotten, and singing and jam sessions, among other events. Both Željko and Larry are willing to teach requested material from older repertoire on Friday, as long as it is requested ahead of time with your registration. Friday will end with late-afternoon dancing to live music by camp participants and an evening request dance party. Saturday and Sunday will include workshops by the featured teachers and also favorite June Camp traditions including Happy Hour, with dancing and live music, a dance party Saturday night with music by Milwaukee's Izvor Orchestra, and a Midnight Ice Cream Social. Sunday morning will have more teaching and review sessions. June Camp International Folk Dance Camp in the Midwest |
