Welcome!
The Rev. Julie Peeples, pastor of
Congregational United Church of Christ in Greensboro North Carolina,
is on a Jewish-Christian Clergy Mission to Israel.
This will be the site where Julie will post messages and pictures.
You will be able to view pictures with this slideshow, or you can click on the show and get a larger version of the pictures. I will keep up with her posts. I am not sure you can add comments directly, but if you would like, you can email them to me (paul@congregationalucc.com), and I will post them in the box below. I may moderate comments.
Here is her first "post" from a motel run by a kibbutz. near the Sea of Galilee and Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee.
Wednesday evening, just before supper.
Things are going well so far. We saw Tel Aviv yesterday, today have been to Nazareth, and now Sea of Galilee. Absolutely gorgeous, beautiful weather. Group is nice.
The long flight actually went pretty well, the
short leg was rough. I am a little tired but not bad at ll. Camera ran out of battery this a.m., though, and am just now getting to recharge it. Bummer! But when it's charged again, I'll try to put the pics up.
Monday evening, Dec 8
We are enjoying a free evening, so I am trying to catch up on
emails and photos. Have had repeated technical problems, everything
from the computer acting weird, to the hotel cutting off internet
service at odd times for odd reasons. Usually right when I am trying
to upload pics.
Today we heard 3 speakers, visited Yad Vashem, the holocaust
museum. Pretty powerful stuff, made for a good group discussion.
Overall going very well; intense conversations, some very good speakers
and one or two really disturbing ones. I really like the group.
I am sitting in the lobby and there's a piano player who sounds
like dad - such selections as, Do You KNow What it Means to miss New
Orleans? and so on. Several group members have gotten sick - colds,
bronchitis, one with stomach bug but Terry and I are fine thus far.
Going to Bethlehem tomorrow. Another speaker. We have really
kept a tight and busy schedule. Dead Sea yesterday was beautiful.
The pictures I added are of Jerusalem, some
of the security fence or what we've seen of it so far, a good speaker,
couple of churches, healing pool, Masada, and Qumran.
