Jules' History 'O Science

About Me

I am a teacher...I teach 7th grade science at Webb City, MO Jr. High...about 150 of the little darlings!  I actually love the adolescent age kids...they're standing in the gap of wanting to grow up and still be kids...at that age, a Jolly Rancher is still a commodity...they will throw each other under the bus for a Jolly Rancher!!!

I coach the Junior High Cross Country team which keeps me really busy!  This is the second year of the program, so developing interest and a following is paramount.  I currently have 18 solid 7th and 8th graders on my roster...they are competing well and some are consistently winning medals at meets!  They work very hard each day and I'm so proud of them!

I came into teaching in a non-traditional way...I have a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Arkansas.  I worked for 20+ years in the nuclear industry in Washington State...some of that time included owning my own small engineering firm for about 6 years.  I've lived a pretty quilted life...engineer, business owner, licensed massage therapist, Wal-Mart worker, teacher.  I'm proud of what I've done and proud of what I do.  I think of the "high risk" of my jobs...I've had the opportunity to make the Pacific Northwest uninhabitable...and I have the opportunity to mold minds...one way or another...they have "high risks"!

My interests include science, politics (wow!  what a great time to be alive...first black President or first woman Vice President!), NASCAR, cross country (I coach JH kids...can't do it myself, but I work with them!), and educating myself to be a better educator...here's some of my favorite sites:
