EJU Level 3 Advanced Coach Award gains academic approval in Cambridge

posted 26 Jan 2011 14:30 by Mike Callan
The Judospace Educational Institute is delighted to announce the approval of the Anglia Ruskin University External Accreditation Sub-panel for the European Judo Union Level 3 Advanced Coach Award.

This means that judo coaches who successfully complete the award will also achieve the Access Certificate in Sports Coaching - European Judo Union worth 90 academic credits from the University.

The Proposal Team consisted of;
Mr Envic Galea, EJU General Secretary,
Mr Bob Challis, EJU Judoknowledge Commissioner, and ARU Lecturer in Sports Coaching,
Mr Lance Wicks, EJU Judoknowledge Commissioner, and Judospace IT Director,
Ms Natalie Emmett, Judospace Head of Administration and Quality Manager,
Dr Mike Callan, EJU Judoknowledge Commissioner and Judospace Managing Director.

The detailed written proposal was closely scrutinised by the Accreditation Panel led by the leading sociology academic, Dr Shaun Le Boutillier. They considered issues such as; the rationale for curriculum design and content of programme, the appropriateness of aims and learning outcomes, assessment strategies, student experience, and operational management. The Panel meeting with the Proposal Team then clarified any questions.

Dr Callan, said "We are pleased that the EJU Level 3 Award has gained this academic recognition. This confirms that it is set at the right level and has suitable quality control systems in place. It's great news for coaches who want to progress on to the Level 4 Award, but who previously did not have the qualifications to gain entry to the University."

Mr Challis, who will become the Anglia Ruskin Link Tutor to Judospace said "Anglia Ruskin University is building a great partnership with both the European Judo Union and with Judospace. We were pleased to welcome Envic Galea to the University again and we look forward to continuing to make a significant contribution to the development of judo coaches across the world."
