Jubilee's Artistic Director Becky Coulter
has over 30 years experience as a dance teacher and choreographer for
many fine arts organizations and schools, including Academy of Dance
Arts, Black Hills Dance Theater, Metro Parks & Recreation in Nashville,
TN, and Vanderbilt Dance Group, also in Nashville. She has taught modern
dance, ballet, tap, and clogging for children and adults, and is a veteran
performer with Tennessee Dance Theater, Rocky Mt. Dancers, Kelly &
Kelly Dance, and BYU’s International Dance Company. In 1998, Becky
opened the Academy of Dance Arts in Rapid City, SD, offering
an alternative curriculum to the traditional dance school fare with
a more contemporary, creative approach to instruction and performance.
Becky was a featured dancer and founding member of the highly-acclaimed
modern dance company Tennessee Dance Theater, with glowing reviews from
the Tennessean to the New York Times. She performed works in many original
roles created by TDT artistic directors Donna Rizzo and Andrew Krichels. Becky’s interest in folklore and traditional dance led her to learn about and perform both international and American dance forms. At Brigham Young University, she toured and performed with the International Folk Dance Team in the Pacific Northwest, and with the American Dance Team in Eastern Europe, Russia and Japan. She has a B.S. degree in Physical Education and Dance, and has done graduate work in Recreation. She is also a certified yoga teacher. Becky has toured annually since 1981 with Rocky Mt. Dancers from Bountiful, Utah, visiting both Eastern and Western Europe, China, Japan and Scandinavia world music and dance festivals. In 2001, Becky directed her Academy of Dance Arts students as they performed in the 5th China International Folk Arts Festival in Beijing, Xian and Hangzou, along with the Rocky Mountain Dancers. |
