About Me:

Having enjoying the practical subjects at school I went on to study Landscape Architecture at Sheffield University for 5 years. I chose this field of study because it is highly focused on design and the aesthetic properties and experiences of outdoor space. Since completing the MLA I felt motivated to not only work as a Landscape Architect but also to pursue my passion for creating sculpture.

I have always been interested in design and how different materials and forms can be used to create striking sculpture and outdoor spaces. I am fascinated with what can be achieved from working with different materials and tools.

I am inspired by the Chiltern countryside where my workshop is based. Each piece of work is individually crafted and is unique. All of my designs are as bold as they are simple and are left to weather naturally, over time turning a fantastic soft orange colour. Current and past examples of my work are shown in the Gallery section to the right.

Testimonials:

Robert Adams, Mentmore: 3 Swallows

I thought you might like to have a couple of photos of the Swallows in situ. We are delighted with the sculpture and it has been much admired.

Sarah & Jeremy McNamara, Stockgrove: Kestrel

It was a real surprise for Jeremy when he returned. It has become a real feature in our garden and seems to change with the light, which I love. The reaction of everyone who has seen it so far is 'wow', 'fantastic', 'lovely', and 'where did you get it?' I will be letting them know about you as long as they say they saw it in our garden first!

Fra Garratt, Berkhamsted: Pair of Arctic Terns

I commissioned two Arctic Terns from James, he kindly set them up in situ by the canal. They look wonderful and I love the fact that they move gently in the breeze and their profile changes depending where you see them from in the garden. I love walking past them and looking up at them flying over the water. They have been much admired by everyone who has seen them!
