Aloha Jeremy Ranch Parents & Students!

“The Luau Book Fair is Almost Here!”

8:00am - 8:00pm

(Parent-‐Teacher Conference Week)

Classroom Wish List

We invite you to help build our classroom libraries by purchasing books and donating them to your child’s classroom and/or school specialist. Simply stop by the Book Fair and purchase one of the books that your teacher has already pre-‐selected. If your student has an upcoming birthday, you might want to purchase one of these books to give to the class.

School Challenge

100,000 Minute Reading Challenge

Mr. Kuennen is challenging the students to read a total of 100,000 minutes in eight days (being read to also counts). If they succeed, ten students will be randomly selected from the daily forms turned in, to throw a pie in his face. Please remind your student(s) to turn in their Reading Challenge Slips each morning to the bin outside of the Library.
Grade Level Contest
In addition to tallying the entire reading minutes for the school, the slips will also help us tally minutes by grade. The winning grade will receive supplies for a Popcorn and Movie Party.
Individual Challenge
And finally, we will also have a contest by grade for the most minutes read over the eight days. These minutes will be tallied on the bookmark that is attached. Winners will receive a $20 Book Fair gift certificate as well as a poster.

Shop for Smiles

By shopping at the Book Fair, we are going to put smiles on the faces of the students from Tse’bii’nidzisgai (“Monument Valley” in Navajo) Elementary School in Southeast Utah. This school and teacher housing, formerly Mexican Hat Elementary, were recently relocated and rebuilt with funds from a federal grant. The students and faculty are very anxious to fill their new school with books. We will be assisting with this by donating our profits from our Book Fair (Scholastic Dollars) to this school. We receive 70% of all sales back in book fair credit. We will be donating these Scholastic Dollars to help stock the shelves of their library!

In order to make this Book Fair another huge success, we need your help.  Please click on the link below and volunteer to help.  We need snacks for the teachers on Friday, February 3rd while they come and preview the books at the book fair.  They will choose their classroom wishlist books as well as look at what books to recommend to the kids!

We also need people every day to work at the book fair.  It is a ton of fun - and we can't do it without you.  Please grab a friend and sign up for a couple of shifts!  If you have any questions, please contact either Amy Macuga (macugas@mac.com) or Darcy Tsandes (darcytpc@mac.com).

Thanks in advance for your help with the Book Fair!  We couldn't do it without all of you.  If you have general questions about the Book Fair, please contact Amy Macuga at macugas@mac.com.
