My approach to portrait photography is an attempt to combine my background in fine art with the demands of commercial photography. In school, I absolutely loved studying photography from an artworld perspective where I was encouraged to focus on concepts and processes. Today I continue to be passionate about photography!

I like to prepare for a portrait session much as I would prepare for any other art project. This allows me to explore the concepts that will best capture where you’re at in your life and in your relationships.

I want my photographs to remind people of how things really were at the time of the shoot. Not because the images I make are “real”—obviously they are contrived to a certain extent—but because of the real emotions that the photographs capture. Together we create situations that provoke natural feelings, dynamics, interactions, and expressions.
