Maple Glaze
Bon Appetit November 1995
You might consider doubling this recipe and drizzling it on everything you know and love.
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons whipping cream
6 tablespoons powdered sugar, sifted
Melt butter with maple syrup and cream in heavy small saucepan.
Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar and whisk until smooth. Cool glaze
until slightly thickened, about 15 minutes. Dip doughnuts into glaze
or drizzle glaze over doughnuts.
Orange Glaze
2 cups confectioners' sugar
3 tablespoons strained fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon orange-flavored liqueur
Sift confectioners' sugar into a small saucepan and stir in orange
juice and liqueur to make a smooth paste. Heat glaze over moderately
high heat until just warm to the touch. Dip doughnuts into glaze or
drip glaze over doughnuts.
Vanilla Glaze
1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar
5 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
Stir together 1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar, 5 tablespoons
milk, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract just until powdered sugar is
moistened and mixture is smooth. Add an additional tablespoon of milk,
if needed. Dip doughnuts into glaze or drip glaze over doughnuts.
Or toss freshly fried doughnuts in:
