Holden Love
I love him. He loves me. He loves everyone. When I think about it, I realize that Holden knows more about love than any of us. With him, there are no games, no grudges, no phoniness. His needs are simple and he does not ask for much. He isn't perfect, not in the least, but that is a very important part of your arrangement and you wouldn't have it any other way. Though he will pee on your feet sometimes and dirty your pants and slobber on your face and not fetch things you throw for him and tear up the newly-grown melon patch and swallow things he was only meant to chew, you love him. Because he does not know how not to love. He will not abandon. He will not disappoint. He is always happy to see you. He will always be there for you. He does not know how else to be. He is Love.
And he's got a conehead.

Cabo San Lucas, August 13-17, 2006
At Los Cabos, what they call the Land's End, my mom, my sister, and I took a much need break from the mayhem in our lives. Our hotel, SolMar, rested on a secluded private beach, where we enjoyed the Pacific breeze and watched the sky change colors at sunset. Here, Mom admires the view while Jac makes sand angels.
Later, Jacqueline and I show each other our sisterly love. By flipping each other off.
There was a lot of consumption of alcoholic beverages during this
trip. Mostly by me and my sister, but Mom partook once or twice. There
was plenty of incentive to drink, since there, alcohol was plentiful
while water was scarce. We didn't mind. I, being blessed with my
lightweightedness, did not get through any 12 hour period completely
sober.
Other than alcohol, there were IGUANAS. We paid a guy $2.oo so that
Jac could get a moment with these in-demand reptiles. That big
one seemed to really love his sombrero.
Mom and I enjoy the Glass Bottom Boat trip. Mom refused to go
anywhere without the life jacket, so she made Jacqueline hound our
guide for one. There were so many fish!
At that point, we were getting a bit sick of all the motion-sickness involved in this trip. But the sights were not to be missed.
The Pacific Window. Sitting in a boat from the Sea of Cortez looking out through a rock window at the Pacific Ocean.
And of course, the postcard-worthy shot. The famous arch formation
on the right looks like a kangaroo dipping down for a drink of water to
me. One guide described it as a big dinosaur getting drunk off an ocean
of tequila.
This trip, however brief, was a much needed getaway for me. It was
also great to take my mom out on a vacation. She deserves it after all
the shit she has to go through everyday. But I hope to return one day
during a cooler month sans worrying mother. Got to hit a couple of
bars, drink a few drinks, and dance with a few boys, but it is
definitely something worth redoing with friends. Then we can
really enjoy the sun and the nightlife. Woot!
Desker Love
Hung out with some deskers a couple of nights ago. It was really nice. It was something familiar, yet I got to experience it from a different place in my life than before. It was really nice.
Bonfire at the beach. Then back to Sunset. Drunk pictionary. King's Cup. Drank almost more than I could manage. Played a game of ten-fingers that lasted into early morning. Came down to me and one other. Lost on "I have never been in love." Damn.

Post-Cabo House Warming
My house smells like tequila. Jacqueline just opened her luggage and the little gift bottle of cheap tequila that she got as part of her "Mexican package" from the hotel at Los Cabos has broken inside her suitcase. Everything is soaked in Tres Caballos and my house smells like tequila.
Photos of the trip to come!
