Frequently asked questions about the JotSpot to Google Sites migration. How long after I submit the migration form should I expect my content in my Google Site? This is dependent on system load and wiki size. The longest you should have to wait is 3 days, although most should be fairly instantaneous. You will receive email once it is complete. How do you handle users in the migration?Google Sites uses Google Accounts or Google Apps accounts for authentication. The migration will credit initial page imports to the site owner. The migration will not map user accounts, so once your wiki has been migrated you should invite users via the Sharing tab in Google Sites. JotSpot groups will not be migrated. Once your content has been migrated you can invite users to the site.Important note: Sites does not yet support page level permissions so when you invite users to your new Google Site they will be able to view any content migrated. If there is sensitive content in your Jot wiki you will want to delete it before you request the migration. You can create another site for this sensitive information and only invite a select group of people. What content will be migrated?
JavaScript and unsafe HTML will be removed from Web pages at import. We also remove any jot script (jot:tags) -- Sites does not yet support code execution. When will my JotSpot wiki be shut down if I request a migration? We will shut down your JotSpot wiki 2 weeks after the migration completed, but no later than January 15. Will my wiki be accessible during the migration?Your wiki will be accessible during the migration. There will be no downtime. Can I request more than one migration of the same JotSpot wiki?Yes, you can request more than one migrations of the same wiki. This can be used to test the migration while you continue to use the wiki. Later you request another migration to make the final switch. Note that the pending migration needs to complete before you can request another migration. Also, please note that if you should pick the same target site for a second migration, all data in the target site will get erased before it is updated with the migrated content. |
