George Finlinson, son of Joshua Finlinson and Mary Thomlinson, and was born 23 January 1835 at Curthwaite, Cumberland, England. He was christened according to Bishop's Transcripts of Thursby, Cumberland, England. [ "Chr. 1 Mar 1835 George son of Joshua Finlinson, blacksmith, of Thursby & Mary his wife."] 

He married Anne Emmerson at “Westward on the 9th inst. by Rev. Mr. Wood: George Finlinson of Town Head Farm, Curthwaite, second surviving son of the late Joshua Finlinson, Thursby, to Anne, second daughter of James Emmerson, inkeeper of Curthwaite in the parish of Westward."

They had one daughter Mary Elizabeth 13 Dec 1863 in Westward, Cumberland, England. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1864 and immigrated to Utah. Anne refused to come with him and they separated.

In Utah he married Susan Trimble  “16 Nov 1866 George married Susan Trimble in Fillmore, Utah. They had 9 children.

    1.  Elizabeth "Libbie" Finlinson, born 18 Jun 1867, Fillmore, Millard, Utah, United States. She             married Walter Clisbee Lyman, 16 Dec 1891, Manti, Sanpete, Utah; Libbie died 12 Aug 1916, Blanding, San Juan, Utah.

    2.  George Edward Finlinson, born 18 Aug 1869, Fillmore, Millard, Utah, United States; married Mary Caroline Roper, 9 Oct 1895, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah; George died 8 Feb 1955, Oak City, Millard, Utah.

    3.  William Jefferson Finlinson, born 29 Sep 1871, Fillmore, Millard, Utah, United States; married Mary Olive Walker, 16 Nov 1899, Manti, Sanpete, Utah; Jeff died 31 Oct 1959, Payson, Utah, Utah.

    4.  Margaret Ann "Maggie" Finlinson, born 18 Oct 1873, Oak City, Millard, Utah, United States; married Lorenzo Turner Lovell, 5 Jun 1901, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah; 

Maggie died 8 Mar 1911, Oak City, Millard, Utah.

"George Finlinson passed away at his home in Oak City, Utah, April 12, 1909, at the age of 64 years. The cause of his death was asthma. He was buried in the Oak City cemetery."
