Salters chemistry is different to other Chemistry courses; chemical principles are developed in the context of applications of Chemistry. Important ideas are introduced gradually, rather than all in one go, allowing you to revisit a particular topic several times, each time taking your knowledge and understanding a step further.
The course is based on two student textbooks:
- Chemical Ideas (Theory)
- Chemical Storylines (Applications)
Along with practical activities resources booklets.
In both the AS and A2 parts of the course there are three units of assessment – two exams and coursework.
- Each exam covers two or more chapters of the Storylines book, along with the appropriate Chemical Ideas.
- AS coursework will be assessing five skill areas. They will be assessed in controlled conditions during school time.
- A2 coursework is done as an Individual Investigations (project)
