Upgrading from trixbox 2.2 to 2.6+

trixbox® Maintenance Guides

If you have an existing installation of trixbox 2.2 or earlier, you may upgrade to trixbox 2.6+ in a few steps. This upgrade should only be done if there is a specific feature that you want that trixbox 2.4+ has, and that connot be obtained from trixbox 2.2 or earlier.

  1. Install trixbox Backup/Restore module: yum install tbm-Backup. Backup your existing database. Use WinSCP to grab the backup file from /var/lib/trixbox/backups and store it on a computer on your local network.
  2. Download the latest version of trixbox and install it on your system. Create an extension, just to be used as a "dummy" file to create the backup folder. Next, install the Backup/Restore module: yum install tbm-Backup. Make a backup of what you have now.
  3. Using WinSCP, go to /var/lib/trixbox/backups and insert the backup file you originally grabbed from the 2.2 installation, here.
  4. In the Backup/Restore module, go to Restore an existing backup and select the file you backed up with the trixbox 2.2 installation. Wait a few minutes, and you are all set.
