New SAE seminar date!

17 February 2010

On 15 and 16 April 2010 the Society of Automotive Engineers is hosting the Racecar Data Acquisition and Analysis seminar in Detroit, Michigan. The seminar takes place in conjunction with the 2010 SAE World Congress, the essential automotive technology event in Detroit's Cobo Center.
Over the 2 days participants will learn how to analyze the data logged by modern racecar data acquisition systems and use the conclusions to enhance the performance of the driver and car.
Although the numerous covered examples are not confined to one specific data acquisition system, the Detroit seminar will be supported by Race Technology USA. The participants will be able to get their hands on the company's most recent hardware and some hands-on exercises will be performed using their Analysis software package.

More information and registration info can be found on this link.

PK Carsport finishes 2nd in 2009 FIA GT Championship

25 October 2009

Mike Hezemans and Anthony Kumpen finished 2nd in the final race of the 2009 FIA GT Championship in Zolder. This result puts them 2nd in this year's driver's championship. PK Carsport finishes the team's championship also in 2nd place, a result that guarantees the team an automatic entry for next year's 24 Hours of LeMans.
This year was the team's most successful season ever with a total of 5 podium finishes of which 2 victories. The highlight of the season was probably an extremely hard fought victory in the Spa 24 Hours.

DKR Engineering wins French GT Championship 2009

18 October 2009

Eric Debard clinched this year's FFSA GT driver's championship in Ledenon. Together with Olivier Panis he won the first race on Saturday. A 4th place in the second heat was enough to obtain mathematical security for the title. DKR Engineering already secured the team's championship on Saturday.
The team's C5R driven by Laurent Cazenave and Jean Claude Police finished the season with 2 sixth places.
This race marked the final race for GT1 cars in the French Championship. Next year the series will become a GT3 championship.

PK-Carsport scores victory in Spa 24 Hours and takes lead in FIA GT classification

27 July 2009

With Anthony Kumpen, Mike Hezemans, Jos Menten and Kurt Mollekens behind the wheel PK-Carsport scored what is probably the most important victory in the history of the team. In their Corvette C6R the quartet won the last edition of the Spa 24 Hours reserved for GT1 cars. With this victory Kumpen and Hezemans now lead the FIA GT Championship.

This was probably one of the closest 24 Hour races ever seen in this category. Until 4 hours before the end, the difference between the leaders was always expressed in seconds rather than minutes or laps. The race resulted in a very close battle between the 3 Vitaphone Maseratis and the PK, SRT and DKR Corvettes. In the morning 4 of the leading GT1's had already struck problems and it looked as if the battle would go to the finish between the PK-Carsport and SRT Corvettes.
However, 4 hours before the end the SRT Corvette experienced an engine problem leaving the 4 PK drivers to cruise to victory.

The Spa 24 Hours marked the halfway point of the championship which now sees Kumpen and Hezemans 1 point ahead of the Bartels/Bertolini Maserati. There are now 4 races to go, the next one taking place end of August in Budapest.

DKR Engineering takes lead in FFSA GT Teams classification in Val de Vienne

6 July 2009

In the 7th and 8th round DKR Engineering was able to take the lead in the team's classification after a victory for Olivier Panis and Eric Debard on Saturday and a 2nd place for Jean Claude Police and Laurent Cazenave on Sunday.

The first race was not the success hoped for by Cazenave and Police. The latter made a mistake at the start and ended in the gravel trap. The next day the 2 rebounded by taking 2nd place behind the Larbre Saleen of Groppi/Bornhauser.
In the driver's championship Cazenave and Police are currently in 4th position 16 points behind the leaders.
With this weekend's results DKR is now leading the GT1 team's championship.
There's now a short summer break before the next race in Albi in September.

FIA GT Victory in Oschersleben

22 June 2009

PK Carsport scored it's first FIA GT victory of the season in Oschersleben, Germany. Mike Hezemans, qualified 7th, took the lead in a hectic start on a dry track. Anthony Kumpen was able to control this lead in his stint, which was performed under very severe rain conditions.
Hezemans got back into the car for the last 10 minutes and secured a fine victory.

Kumpen and Hezemans are now 2nd in the Championship only 3 points behind Vitaphone's Bartels and Bertolini.

New podium finish for Cazenave & Police in Magny Cours

30 May 2009

The Corvette C5R of Laurent Cazenave and Jean Claude Police scored another podium finish in the 3rd round of the FFSA GT Championship.

The first race on Saturday brought a 4th place for the team, which is an excellent result considering the 120kg of ballast the car needed to carry following the victory in Dijon. Police could hold of a charge of Larbre's Saleen until 2 laps before the end.

With the ballast decreased to 40kg on Sunday and an excellent tire strategy, the C5R proved to be the fastest car in the field. Starting from sixth, Police and Cazenave brought the car home in 3rd place. Chances of victory were spoiled when Cazenave received a drive-trough penalty for a coming together with Groppi.

The second race was won by the DKR C6R driven by Eric Debard and Olivier Panis. Cazenave and Police maintain their 2nd place in the driver standings.
