Well now, here is a little about me. I have been teaching history at GHS for
5 years. Before that I taught and coached at Vahalla HS where my
wonderful wife still teaches AP English to 11th graders. Before teaching, I was a substitute teacher with the
district and subbed at all 11 high schools. I earned my 4 year BA at
Point Loma Nazarene University in 1998, my teaching Credential at San Diego
State University, and then my Masters back at Point Loma Nazarene
University. I graduated from Yucaipa High School in 1994 and
immediately went to college down here San Diego at Point Loma. I did social work for two years with homeless teens before deciding on the teaching career. I have also done landscaping, record keeping at a law firm, custom picture framing, pool cleaning service, fast food - you name it. As for the fun stuff, I like to surf, play disc golf, camp, hike, backpack, etc. Outdoors and traveling are great and last summer my wife and I spent 6 weeks backpacking Europe. It was an incredible experience, and one I value as I visited many places I teach about. We have also climbed Mt.Whitney in the Sierra Nevadas, Half Dome in Yosemite, and hiked the Rae Lakes Loop in the KingsCanyonNationalPark. I would like to do the John Muir Trail sometime as well, and maybe portions of the Pacific Crest Trail. I also like to read - history, science fiction, politics, religion and theology, current issues, etc. My wife says I have too many hobbies and one of those is wargaming with miniatures I collect & paint. I also do modeling and scratch-building. Her hobbies as of the moment happen to be watching every second of the Olympics! My wife and I are big time Chargers Fans as well as USC Trojan fans, and we are excited that back-to-school is also the return to football season. We like the Padres (even when they stink) and enjoy going to PetcoPark. We watch LOST, The Amazing Race, 24, Everyone Loves Raymond, Sienfield, and some others (I like the History Channel, Military Channel, Discovery, and Battlestar Galactica, but my wife doesn't!). We are active in our church and like to hang with great friends and family. We also plan on getting some kids and raising some Golden Retrievers! Or is it the other way around? |
