"After spending all that time in the studio, why dont the mixes sound "loud" or like my favorite bands record?" The Mastering process is the final stage of preparing your single or full length album for duplication or pressing. Some describe it as the final polish that brings your recording to a professional level. Equalization, limiting, compression, and stereo imaging, are used to enhance consistency, loudness, and presence. Making sure your final product competes with other commercial releases is key to a successful project. Mastering also includes putting the songs in the proper order & editing any crossfades or special features youd like to have.
Mastering rates are $30/song or $300 for a full-length album up to 72 minutes. Turnaround time is usually within a few days. The mastering suite utilizes both analog & digital processing.
Preferred formats for submission include:
- 24-bit 44.1k WAV files on a cd or dvd
- regular 16 bit audio cd
- stem mixes within Pro Tools session (extra $25/song)
- PLEASE DO NOT SEND MP3s!!!
- Make sure all materials are properly labeled with titles and contact information.
