Jonathan Matheson




Jonathan is a philosophy graduate student at the University of Rochester in upstate NY, and an adjunct member of the philosophy department at St. John Fisher College.
He is currently working on his dissertation in which he examines the uniqueness thesis, conciliatory views of disagreement, and their relation.  His dissertation is being directed by Richard Feldman and Earl Conee.  Jonathan's primary research interests are in epistemology and ethics, but he also has significant interest in metaphysics, the philosophy of language, and in the philosophy of religion.

Jonathan has an MA in philosophy form the University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee.   His  master's thesis "Belief and Responsibility" gave an account of how we can be responsible for what we believe.  His thesis committee was composed of Edward Hinchman, Andrea Westlund, and Matt Weiner

Jonathan was born in Regina, Canada and was married to Lesley Garvin in 2002.  They have four children: Karis, Thomas, Lincoln, and Asher.
