Dear Parents,

Welcome Back. You managed to purchase supplies, adjust sleeping schedules, and juggle extra-curricular activities just like a pro! Now that we are settling in and getting used to our new teachers, schedules, and administration, I wanted to take a moment to personally welcome each of you.

For some of you, Johnston may be a brand new school experience. We hope you find our halls to be a safe and welcoming environment; a place where learning is our top priority, and the safety and happiness of our children is of the utmost importance. For those of you returning to Johnston, you’ve no doubt seen many changes; and the PTA is excited to have the chance to work with the new administration as they continually strive to improve our school. We can’t do any of it without your help though.

PTA is short for Parent Teacher Association, and is a long standing organization with local, state, and national ties. Our main objective is to facilitate the best possible educational environment for our children. We work together to volunteer time and effort to support the staff, and the children. We organize family and school events to promote school spirit, fellowship, and raise funds to purchase items needed around our campus.  PTA membership is only $7.00 per member.  We encourage every parent, grandparent, teacher and friend to join.  The more members PTA has, the stronger our voice is when legislation and funding is needed.  The more members we have, the more seriously we are taken when we work with the Board of Education, and administrators to target policy changes and improvements.  It is so important for each of us to have a voice and a part in the lives of our school. 

Our annual membership drive is well under way, many of you have sent in your membership dues and application already, thank you.  We are in the process of submitting those memberships, and should have your new cards ready for distribution ASAP.   We will award each class  that reaches 100% membership with a big ice cream  party. If you sent in your membership already, consider buying one for your grandparent, coaches, anyone with a true concern for the education of your child.

 

We are also busy processing the volunteer applications, and will be contacting you very shortly with many opportunities for you to choose from.  You are welcome to view our calendar of upcoming events, and contact our volunteer Committee Chairs that are posted on our website at   www.johnstonpta.com.  Our website is constantly being updated, so please visit it often for the latest updates and news.
