Welcome to Room 15. We are very happy to get to work with you this year. We have a great year planned for this wonderful class of 5th graders. Much of our time in the beginning of the year will be focused on developing team/collaborative skills, organization skills, practicing listening and communication skills and generally developing "Habits of Mind" that will help students become reflective, critical thinkers. We will also be working on literacy, math, science, social studies and the arts throughout the day.

To help with organization and to help develop good habits, students should create a homework area if they don't already have one and they should be explaining and sharing homework with you. Please ask for mail at least once a week (lots of paper still goes home). Homework logs go home on Mondays and should be kept in the homework section of their binders along with the daily reading log.

Subpages (1): Homework
Reminder:

Our class will participate in the EarthKAM Project mission later this Fall.  We will learn about estimating and scale, orbits, Latitude/ Longitude, Coordinated Universal Time,  and the International Space Station  (among many other things). We will use this knowledge to determine photo opportunities and request images of locations around the globe. We will be analyzing these photographs to conduct further investigations.  Checkout some recent photos that our previous class took from the Space Station.
