 John lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife of over 30 years, Mary. He has two grown daughters, Laura and Beth, who are off on their own in the engineering field. John believes that his purpose in life is "to love, to learn, and to teach".
Career
He currently is a software quality consultant and teacher, helping organizations improve their quality and productivity. As a consultant he has taught courses on product metrics, testing, and defect analysis as well as conducted workshops on business metrics and defect analysis. He believes that in a couple of days, he can teach an organization to be self-sufficient in each of these processes.
John has written several papers on improving software quality. Previously John worked for Hewlett-Packard for 33 years managing over 50 software projects and spending his last 12 years as Software Quality Manager for HP-UX (HP's version of UNIX). John's Resume is available on-line at Linkedin.com
Avocation
John began investing in his early 20's and has continued to read a lot about personal finance. He periodically teaches a course, "Gaining Financial Freedom" and has also maintains a summary of the course for use by his children and others.
Hobbies
John and Mary like to travel both internationally and with their trailer in the U.S. He maintains a blog about their travels at balzatravels.blogspot.com. He also enjoys singing in the church choir, playing piano, skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.
