persecuted christians

A collection of links to help you find up to date information without delay

If you need to find prayer news for a prayer meeting, a church newsletter, or a house group, click around these links and you'll be surprised how much you find very quickly. The links are in no particular order...

Christian Freedom International    Large and well organised site with reliable well-researched news. They say: " Most organizations only provide assistance to places where they have an official invitation from a sovereign government. But repressive regimes never give this invitation. As a result, many Christians who need help go without aid or advocacy.
The mission of CFI, however, is to reach the part of the persecuted church that is. . .
. . .the most repressed,
. . .most cutoff,
. . .and most isolated.
That’s why we accept no government or United Nations funds."

Release International   Also reliable and UK-based (Orpington, Kent). Site contains video reports and downloadable PDFs of Release's full-colour magazine, kept scrupulously up to date.

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church    A linking website for several organizations - good for extra web links but no real news maintained here

Persecution Maintained by Voice of the Martyrs, one of the longest-established groups in the world. Also includes video and audio resources which can be useful for digital projection.

Prisoner Alert    Also maintained by  VOM, focusing on people actually in captivity because of their faith.

Open Doors    Large USA site of Brother Andrew's organization (for those too young to remember God's Smuggler, there's a biography on the site).

Open Doors UK  Also worth checking - often contains different stories from the US site. And there's...

Underground   Teenage Open Doors UK website, with lots of good stuff which shouldn't be kept simply for teenagers.

International Christian Concern    Another big one with lots of detail

World Evangelical Alliance   I used to work for these boys, which argues a serious lack of discrimination on their part. But their regular  Religious Liberty Prayer Bulletin is actually very well done and full of reliable data.

Compass Direct Specializing in latest news and often more up to date than other bigger sites.

Christian Solidarity International  Long established and widely respected.

Mission India  A lot of Christian persecution in the last decade has been centred in India  - and it isn't over. This website doesn't have persecution as its major focus but inevitably contains lots of stories which are relevant.

Jubilee Campaign  Contains a useful "News by Topic" page which lets you look at stories grouped under the individual country/region they're from. Not so good that it's often out of date.

Iranian martyrs   Again, not the major concern of Farsinet, which is a general Christian/evangelistic site for Iranians, but there are some good pages about those who have died for their faith within the last few years - and those who still suffer. (The link here is directly to those pages)

Gospel For Asia  "Currently, more than 27,000 churches and mission stations have been planted by Gospel for Asia native missionaries where no church existed before. On average, our missionaries establish approximately 15 fellowships every day in Asia among unreached villages and people groups." Any group as active as this will have lots of persecution stories to tell. And they do, with pictures and sometimes audio clips which can be useful.

Christians In Crisis   Not specifically focused on persecution - other "crises" are highlighted too - but there are always a number of impiortant stories

Religion Today  Daily feature stories about the religious world, often focusing on persecution of Christians. There's also a daily news digest which tends to highlight at least one Christians-in-distress story each day. And you can receive it all daily by e-mail. American-centred but still very useful for non-US readers.

Persecution blog   A regular weblog written by someone from Voice of the Martyrs with the aim of focusing attention upon persecution news and issues. Gives a more personal perspective to the whole thing.

Persecuted Church Blog   Another VOM person does the same thing.
