Welcome to my website. My name is Johan Van Woensel. I was born on July 11, 1977. My profession is civil engineer.
I come from the province of Antwerp. I've always been interested in politics, science and technology. I am a civil engineer. This website is about politics and work. I have done my first two years of civil engineer at the Free University of Brussels. I did my three Master years of civil engineer at the university of Leuven. During holidays I worked in several companies, usually for a short period of time. I went to work at Electrabel at the international incident management department of the European network of Electrabel. At Anac I assumed end responsability as general manager. After this I became director and Chief Executive Officer at Adva Solar ltd. In the early days of my career I also received a Post Graduate Diploma in Management at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel which I did during night school. During the days I worked full time. This study is master after master with the goal to guide the flow of civil engineers into a Master of Business Administration degree. With this diploma I got access to the internationally recognized MBA, Master of Business Administration in full, of the famous Solvay Business School, VUB department. I followed this course in night school and worked during the day. When I graduated magna cum laude, I didn't want to do anymore classes in evening school. But when I worked as a manager at Anac I realized that my knowledge of the law was too basic. I therefore decided to follow the first two years of the academic bachelor law at the Free University of Brussels. As always, I worked during the day. I was allowed to proceed to the third and final year of the academic bachelor of law to obtain my bachelor's degree but figured that I already had sufficient knowledge of the law, which was my goal with following those two years bachelor law. Already in my student days I was interested in politics. I first became active in the Liberal youth wing of the Liberal Party ELDR, and at the LVSV. In 2003 I was then co-opted into the party executive of VLD Heist-op-den-Berg, my home town. From then on I started writing articles for liberal magazines and websites. In 2006 I participated in the municipal elections of Heist-op-den-Berg. I joined the board of directors of the municipal Public Library Heist-op-den-Berg, a member of the board of directors of cultural centre Zwaneberg and vice president of the programming commission Procc of cultural centre Zwaneberg. In 2009 I gained a seat in the National Party Council of the Open VLD. I am there as an observer. This means I can freely speak and thus can participate in any discussions but not take part in voting decisions. I was also political secretary of Open VLD in Heist-op-den-Berg. In 2010 I became Vice President of Open VLD in Heist-op-den-Berg, a member of the party executive of Open VLD Mechelen region and member of the party executive of Open VLD province of Antwerp. |
